I write this as November comes to a close. By this month, just over half a century ago, several African men had lost their lives fighting on the side of the Allies during the second World War.
As that African kid, I’m not too quick to dismiss the World Wars as ‘Western’ history. As that African kid, I remember to observe the two-minute silence at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day. As that African kid, I will buy a poppy or two for those other African kids that fought for what was right.
